If the hustle and bustle, the tinsel and glitter of a 21st century Christmas makes you long for a simpler day, then join the Bergen County Historical Society for their 36th Annual Colonial Christmas Concerts and Tavern Fare on Saturday, December 14th or Sunday, December 15th at Historic New Bridge Landing.
Performances take place in the historically decorated 267-year-old Steuben House at 6 pm and 7:45 pm each evening, where Linda Russell and Companie will whisk you back to Yuletides of yesteryear with carols of your childhood and stories of Christmas past. Don't delay, tickets sell out quickly!
You can stroll through the candlelit site to the Blackhorse Inn, open 5 pm- 9 :30 pm for a light supper of dessert of period favorites such as shepherd's pie, macaroni & cheese, onion & cheese pie, English trifle, selection of Dutch sweets, cake donuts, and cider.
Take a moment to visit Sinterklaas in the Demarest House or the ladies working at the fire in the out-kitchen, and don't forget to stop in the gift shop for a unique and perfect present.
Concert admission: $34 non-members. $27 BCHS members. Since seating is limited for each performance, advance purchase through the society's website is recommended. Tavern fare is at an additional cost.
