Cheese Carving by Guinness World Record Holder

October 12, 2019 to October 14, 2019
10:00 AM until 06:00 PM

This event occurs daily, every 1 day(s).

Be amazed by Sarah "the Cheese Lady" Kaufmann at this multi-day free event as she transforms two 500 lb wheels of cheddar into captivating sculptures in the Deli Dept of Stew Leonard's.

The event is a partnership between two Guinness Book of World Records title  holders - Stew Leonard's for the highest dollar sales per square foot of selling space and Kaufmann, who set the Guinness World Record for Largest Cheese Carving at 925 lbs.

Kaufmann, who earned the nickname “The Cheese Lady” for her decades-long career carving intricate sculptures out of cheese, will use simple ceramic wire loop tools, cheese wires, and a draw knife, to create a series of carvings,  including a harvest scene featuring a turkey in honor of the word “Paramus,” which comes from the Lenni Lenape Native American word meaning "land of the wild turkey." After the carvings are complete, they will be cut up to either be free samples for shoppers or sold.

The mammoth cheese wheels Kaufmann will carve are from by Henning's Cheese, an award-winning, fourth generation family owned cheese producer in rural Wisconsin.  Henning’s is the only cheese factory in the United States making wheels up 12,000 pounds.
