Acclaimed vocalist and Newark native Marlene VerPlanck sings all the great Irving Berlin numbers (“Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Heat Wave,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business”) in a rousing tribute hosted by American musical theater historian Robert Kimball.
VerPlanck has performed with artists ranging from Frank Sinatra to KISS. As a soloist, appearances at Carnegie Hall, Michael’s Pub and the Rainbow Room brought rave notices, and national TV shows, including Entertainment Tonight, The Today Show and CBS’ Sunday Morning, featured profiles on the popular singer.
Kimball serves as artistic advisor to the Ira and Leonore Gershwin Trusts, the Cole Porter Musical and Literary Property Trusts, and the estate of Irving Berlin, and has been a member of the advisory committees of New York City Center’s Encores! Great American Musicals in Concert series.
