Local civic and elected leaders joined The NJ Sharing Network and The Transplant Games of America to announce that The Meadowlands will host the 2020 Transplant Games. This multisport festival for individuals who have undergone lifesaving transplant surgeries is expected to attract 12,000 people and have a $10 million economic impact on The Meadowlands. 1 Joseph S. Bergen Volunteer Center recently hosted its “Fifth Friday” networking event, where leaders from all over Bergen County get together for lunch and listen to presentations from high-profile speakers. This month’s luncheon was held at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack, and attracted 225 guests.

Members of the Hackensack Department of Cultural Arts participated in “Slam Dunk the Junk,” a day dedicated to cleaning up various parks in the local area. The semiannual event is hosted by the Hackensack Riverkeeper, an organization committed to environmental conservation and education.

Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors recently named Clifton native Mohamad Sankar this year’s “Rising Star.” Sankar was honored during the organization’s Circle of Excellence Award at the Montammy Golf Club in Alpine. The award is given to a newly licensed EBCBOR member who displays great talent, participates in company events and contributes to the local community.
