Community menorah lightings are only the start of the celebrations around Bergen County, where Jewish community groups foster a sense of togetherness in honor of this holiday. Whether you’re looking for family fun or a place to gather and make connections, these events offer something for everyone.

Dec. 8: Temple Emanu-El in Woodcliff Lake is celebrating the first Friday of Hanukkah with a community Shabbat Dinner, including traditional food and activities for kids. The festivities start at 5 p.m.

Dec. 10: A Family Fun Festival, hosted by Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn, offers games, a holiday-themed photo booth, hot dinner, fresh latkes, fry your own fresh donuts, and more. Join the fun from 4 to 6 p.m.

Dec. 10: Keep your eye on the sky for Chabad Jewish Center’s Helicopter Dreidel Drop in Franklin Lakes, an event which will also include raffles and prizes. The program starts at 4 p.m.

Dec. 12: Glen Rock Jewish Center’s Rabbi Schlosberg hosts a Hanukkah-themed Senior Schmooze starting at noon.

Dec. 11: Mahwah’s municipal building hosts a Hanukkah show with LEDs and robots starting at 6 p.m.

Dec. 13: That same LED show will also be at the Glen Rock Community Center at 6 p.m.

Dec. 13: For your middle schooler, Bris Avrohom in Fair Lawn is hosting a JTeen Jr. Chanukah Party. at 4 p.m.

Dec. 14: If your teen is a little bit older, they can drop by the next evening for the Jteen Chanukah Bash, aimed at ages 14-17. This party takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Dec. 15: A community Shabbat dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Chabad of Closter in honor of the holiday.

Dec. 19: The great latke cookoff will be held at the Chabad Jewish Center of Franklin Lakes, and will also include performances and refreshments. Stop by at 6 p.m., and bring your best recipes!
