Is the humidity making you cranky? Perhaps you’re stressed over politics? Whatever’s getting you down these days, a little laughter can pick you up and provide, at the very least, a few moments of joy.

Laughing, in fact, is good for both your mental and physical health, as it can improve your mood and immune system. So do yourself a favor this weekend: Round up your favorite people and head to one of the following comedy shows in Bergen County, where you’re sure to share some side-splitting chuckles and giggles with others.

July 26–27, Tommy Fox’s, Bergenfield. Headliner Ryan Maher leads a lineup of comedy pros and upcomers. The shows begin at 7 p.m. each night and are intended for ages 16 and older.

July 27, Bananas Comedy Club, Rutherford. The next Teachers Gone Bad show features a full lineup of comedians (many of them former teachers), who’ll be sharing stories on stage that they wish they could’ve told on campus. General admission is $25, and the show is intended for an adults-only audience. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for the 4 p.m. performance.

July 27–28, Bananas Comedy Club, Rutherford. Return to the popular club and laugh with comedian Kristin Key. The host of the “Kristin Knows Blank” podcast, Key performs her comedy and music for three shows in two nights. The Friday show begins at 8 p.m.; Saturday performances are at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Tickets start at $24.

July 27, Redd’s Restaurant & Biergarten, Carlstadt. The Meadowlands Comedy Club’s Comedy Outside on the Patio show returns to this popular restaurant and bar and will feature comedian Laz Vic with special guest Cindy DeCastro. There is a $20 cover charge for the 8:30 p.m. show.

July 27, Stone & Rail, Glen Rock. “StandUpTown” hosts Jeff Dyan and Aidan Kelly will present Comedy Night, bringing six of their funniest comedians for a night of laughs. Tickets are $45, and the laughs begin at 8 p.m. (Doors open at 7:30 p.m.)
