A ‘Picnic-Perfect’ Birthday Party

The Murugan family shares finger foods and “tea” to celebrate their daughter’s eighth birthday.

Who needs pizza and cake when you can have finger foods and sandwiches? For her daughter Ananya’s eighth birthday, Ridgewood’s Madhuvika Murugan threw a “tea party” picnic in their backyard, featuring both her kids’ favorite treats. She captured the family fun and posted this video of the festivities. “My daughter and my son, Neelan, 4, love to picnic,” Mom says. “We love sharing bites of macarons from our local Sook Pastry shop and cucumber finger sandwiches. Instead of tea, the kids indulged in mixing chocolate syrup with milk and serving it themselves in tiny china.”
