An ‘A’ for Recycling Efforts

Rockaway Township received a $77,000 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection to continue its recycling efforts, which have been cited as some of the most successful in New Jersey. While the state average recycling rate sits around 41 percent, Rockaway’s hit 59.5 percent in 2014. Percentages are calculated by comparing total recycling tonnage with the weight of solid waste.

“The more we work toward this goal, the better off we will be in the future both ecologically and economically,” Mayor Michael Dachisen said
