Calling all art fans and local supporters! Last month the Speakeasy Art Gallery extended an invitation to all high school students living in the Northern New Jersey area to show off their talents by participating in their newest exhibit titled “Influence”.

The Speakeasy Art Gallery, located at 817 Main Street in Boonton, is best known for it’s themed exhibits, which show off the talents of local and international artists. The gallery offers youth and adult art classes to help aspiring artists take a step in the right direction, whether it is through sitting in on lectures, watching live performances, or attending educational workshops. For those who have already reached their full potential creatively, the Speakeasy Art Gallery offers the custom framing needed to make your masterpiece complete, and at the right price.

Each young artist was asked to express his or her own form of art by using a specific technique, or style influenced by another artist. There were no restrictions given on which artist they were able to choose, or what form of art they had to display. After all of the students had submitted their work, twenty-five were chosen to be displayed at the gallery from June 24th– July 3rd. After being displayed for over a week, a few of the teaching artists will select two pieces  (best piece and a runner up) that they feel exceed all expectations visually and creatively. The first place winner will receive a free semester of an art class at the gallery and $100 towards the custom framing of their work, while the runner up will receive three free class sessions and $50 towards a custom frame.

So come out and show your support for your local artists by checking out the “Influence” exhibit. Who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired to get creative yourself! Head online to SpeakEasyArt.com for more information.
