Most photographers will tell you the virtues of shooting during “golden hour,” or the time just after sunrise and before sunset when the natural light makes photographs look particularly stunning. But it’s one thing to hear it and another to see it in action. Local photographer Shawn Christian Zappo of Ocean Grove recently showed off just what the right lighting can bring when he posted the results of a photoshoot that took place at Wall’s Shark River Park on his Instagram. “This woman’s name is Felicia,” Zappo explains. “She’s a dancer, dance instructor and Reiki practitioner. I loved capturing the fluidity of her movement.” But the sun also was an important participant: “This was taken in the pre-sunset golden hour. We had absolutely beautiful lighting,” he says.
