With the spring finally here, what better way to spend a beautiful sunny day (or week) then in a National Park? April 21-29 is National Park Week—the perfect time to go, as admission is free! This year’s annual event features the theme “Picture Yourself in a Park,” and activities include hikes, nature walks, camping and historical presentations. And don’t forget to take your kids to National Junior Ranger Day on the 28th, which will teach them about colonial times and allow them to dress up in clothes of the era, play nature-trail bingo and even earn a Junior Ranger Badge.

There are 397 National Parks in the U.S., but if you’re looking local, Morristown National Historic Park in Morristown, Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park in Paterson and Thomas Edison National Historical Park in West Orange are all close by. Don’t miss out on the festivities! For more information or to plan your trip, visit nationalparkweek.org or nps.gov.
