OLD TAPPAN ORTHODONTICS is going through exciting changes in 2020. Dr. Nicolas Freda, known as Dr. Nick to his patients, is bringing on his father, Dr. Michael Freda, who is also an orthodontist. The decision for  Dr. Freda to join his son allows Dr. Nick the chance to teach more dentists locally and nationwide about progressive orthodontics. “I consider myself extremely fortunate to know that my patients will have a compassionate,  top-notch orthodontist caring for them when I am teaching,” says Dr. Nick, who has become a lecturer in demand since he began teaching at NYU College of Dentistry. There he works chairside with residents, as well as teaching as many as 400 students in the Invisalign® Clinic.

Dr. Nick is proud to be the third orthodontist to own and oversee Old Tappan Orthodontics, a practice that dates back to the early 70’s. He has transformed Old Tappan Orthodontics to a state-of-the-art facility, and continues to do so with the addition of more 3D printing to offer patients different and faster treatment options. What will never change at Old Tappan Orthodontics is the personalized, community feeling that has been its trademark for almost 50 years. Having worked in orthodontic practices with rigid corporate environments, Dr. Nick keeps his focus on building and maintaining a compassionate, family-focused atmosphere designed to accommodate every patient’s needs.

Because the practice has spanned many decades, he takes great joy in seeing generations of families – treating children and their parents and grandparents. “I’ve come to know much more about a family than just the health of their teeth and mouths. I feel privileged to share in many of my patient’s special celebrations and traditions,” says Dr. Nick. “It’s a very hands-on, personal connection.” Dr. Nick exemplifies the very essence of valuing family as he welcomes his father into the practice.
