Juggling a career as the owner of a thriving event rental company, while raising three children under the age of six, Nicole Oppelt has figured out a way to make her busy life seem effortless. Nicole embraces her entrepreneurial spirit by carefully blending her creativity with her devotion to family.

After graduating with degrees in marketing and public relations, Nicole began working in her family’s recycling business. She always planned events for family and friends and when recruited to spearhead the planning for her sister-in-law’s baby shower, Nicole found her true passion. Guests wanted her business card and it was just the encouragement she needed to start her own event planning business. In 2018, the owner of Dovetail asked Nicole if she knew anyone who might be interested in buying the furniture inventory as she was selling the business. Nicole knew this was the chance of a lifetime. Dovetail was a small boutique business in Red Bank, but Nicole had a bigger dream and wanted to expand. It was during Covid that she bought a cross-fit gym and turned the space into a 6,500 SF beautiful, bright showroom and warehouse where clients can view her inventory or engage Nicole’s sense of design.

Dovetail Vintage Rental Co. provides vintage and luxury rentals for weddings and other special events. Growing up in a family where recycling was an integral part of life, repurposing furniture was an opportunity to extend her family’s mission. Nicole’s hand-picked collection of furniture, rugs and bars is constantly growing and evolving to help clients put together their dream events. In keeping her business in the Monmouth County area, Nicole has established herself as a preferred vendor for many of the area’s venues, always conscious about helping to save on the carbon footprint of the trade.

In addition to giving vintage furniture a second life, Nicole’s favorite part of the job is the creative freedom she brings to each event while having the precious time she needs for her loving family.
