Identical twins from Morris County helped this iconic building look its best for the holiday season.

It’s stressful enough decking your own halls and making your holiday décor just right. Now imagine doing it in perhaps the most iconic building in the country.

That’s what identical twins Deanna Kass and Samantha DeVito did when they were selected to help decorate the White House for Christmas in 2025.

“I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw a post about this opportunity,” says Kass. “It’s funny, neither one of us work in the creative—I work in the pharmaceutical industry, and my sister is an HR professional in the healthcare industry. But we’re from a family that loves decorations. We go all out for Christmas and birthdays, we love making unique spreads for people to enjoy. So I convinced her we should both apply.”

She adds, “We both got the email at the same time saying we were accepted, and we were on FaceTime with each other crying.”

Only 150 were selected from a pool of 12,000 applicants. “It’s crazy we made the cut, but we were excited to represent Northern New Jersey,” Kass says.

Both the Pequannock Township High School graduates worked on the East Room and the Green Room, trimming trees, making wreaths, building sets and setting up lights. “They call it ‘setting up things the White House way,’” she shares.

The process was recorded for an HGTV special, White House Christmas 2025, which premiered on Dec. 14. Both sisters were interviewed.

“It was just so great to see so many different people from so many different backgrounds come together to do this,” Kass concludes. “We both took part in something really spectacular and learned some tips and tricks along the way.”
