Monmouth County’s first cat café is expected to open this month in Asbury Park, and it will be aptly named Catsbury Park. The café is the creation of resident D.J. Bornschein, who had the idea when he visited a cat café in California in 2015. Cat cafés, where kitties can roam free and be petted while customers enjoy tea or coffee and snacks, have become more popular in America after trending in Taiwan and then Japan. And if you’re looking for a new feline friend, Catsbury Park plans to partner with animal rescue organizations to promote the adoption of the dozen or so cats that will live in the café.
