Want to shop, laugh, dance and eat? Skip the mall and enjoy these Bergen County happenings.

Think there’s not much to do in Bergen County during the weeks before Memorial Day? Think again!
For starters, there are dozens of trails to walk and hike, or you can pack a picnic and enjoy alfresco dining in a park. Perhaps you and your crew can have a laugh and get some exercise during an indoor rock climbing session or a dance class.
Looking for more ideas? We have some—10 of them to be exact. For some family fun this weekend, check out these exciting events below:
April 26 & 27
- The annual Party for the Planet returns to the Bergen County Zoo in Paramus. Over two days, you can browse dozens of conservation education related tables, information from local environmental organization, enjoy themed activities and more. Saturday will feature local conservation groups, and Sunday will focus on the zoo’s efforts. The fun starts at 10 a.m. on both days, and the party is free with zoo admission.
April 26
- Want to find your next treasure? Take a drive through Bergen County for seasonal townwide garage sales. In Westwood, for instance, yard sales will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while Ho-Ho-Kus homeowners will hold their sales from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Support local craft makers during an artist pop-up shop at Bayou of Saddle River. The pop-up takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature a variety of goods on display and for sale, including pottery, woodwork, crochet, clothing, paintings and more.
- Stop by Bananas Comedy Club in Rutherford to see funnyman Alingon Mitra for his 7 p.m. set. The comic veteran has been seen on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Conan, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and more. Tickets start at $35.99
April 27
- If you love holiday antiques, visit the Park Ridge Marriott for a Vintage & Antique All-Holidays Show. Find your new favorite items to display for any holiday, from Fourth of July and Halloween to Thanksgiving and Easter. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. The show’s hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The Just Jersey Food Truck Festival returns to Paramus Park for a day of family fun. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., visitors can enjoy more than 20 food trucks, a beer garden, music, pony rides, a petting zoo, games and other activities. Admission is $5, and free for children.
- At Memorial Park at Van Neste Square in Ridgewood, bring the whole family to the annual Daffodil Festival and Earth Day event. Enjoy goat yoga, live music, educational displays, demonstrations, crafts, vendors specializing in sustainability and natural products and more. It all kicks off at 11 a.m. (and the always-popular Daffy Dog Parade, where leased and costumed pups are encouraged to show off, starts at 12:30 p.m.).
- Rock out with Cold Sweats, who’ll perform a classic rock concert at 2 p.m. in the Ramsey Public Library. The band’s set list includes covers of familiar jams by The Beatles, The Who, Tom Petty, The Allman Brothers Band, Pink Floyd and more. Admission is free, but online registration is encouraged.
- Check out some cool eco-friendly vehicles at the third annual Ramsey EV Car Show, happening at the Mechanic Street parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hosted by the Ramsey Environmental Commission and Green Team, the show will feature some of the latest zero emission EV cars and trucks as well as other educational and informational vendor tables.
- Head to bergenPAC in Englewood for the Grand Kyiv Ballet’s rendition of Tchaikovsky’s iconic “Swan Lake.” The Ukrainian ballet company will stop by for a 4 p.m. performance of the dramatic show, which uses dance to tell the story of rapture, heartache and romance. Tickets range from $45 to $75 and are available online and at the box office.
