We celebrate New Year’s Eve to start the next year with a dose of positivity, togetherness, fun and good times. But maybe you’re not a fan of crowds, or the stress of driving into New York City isn’t the note you want 2023 to end on. Never fear! Bergen County’s dining scene is filled with places hosting New Year’s revelries.

Whether you prefer the relaxed environs of a pub or the panache of an elegant restaurant, check out these eateries for good food, good friends and a New Year’s Eve that will start 2024 off right.

  • If you’re looking for a blend of local and high-end, Sofia in Englewood has both in spades. Join them for a live DJ throughout the night, and the option of three seating times: 5, 7 and 9:30 p.m. You can also stop in the next morning and try out their New Year’s Day brunch menu. Reservations required.
  • For the sport fans among you, New Milford’s River & Henley could be the ideal New Year’s destination, as they promise to combine the holiday celebration with Sunday Night Football. They’ll have a DJ going all day, and complimentary Champagne at midnight. No cover charge is needed.
  • Stern and Bow in Closter is ringing in the New Year with a three-course spread. Options include lobster, venison and key lime pie. Three menu options are offered, and they are sitting groups with up to five people. See their website for reservations.

  • Paramus’s Mantra will be hosting a New Year’s Party with an open bar, as well as appetizers, a dinner buffet and an Indian and international food station. See their website for reservation details.
  • For more bar fare and some live music, Shawn’s Crazy Saloon in North Arlington has an open bar and a great line-up this New Year’s Eve.
