Opening an Easter basket filled with gifts and goodies is a tradition many kids and their parents look forward to. But we ask: Why wait to have fun when the weeks leading up to Easter Sunday, April 20, are just as exciting?

Below is a sampling of upcoming egg hunts, photo-ops and other Easter-related activities for the whole family:

Now through April 19, Photos with the Easter Bunny, Garden State Plaza, Paramus. Take memorable family photos with the Easter icon throughout the season. Reservations can be made at the mall’s website.

Now through April 19, Photos with the Easter Bunny, Paramus Park, Paramus. Make your reservation online or walk up for pictures with the Easter Bunny. Search their calendar for special pet nights, when you can bring Fido or Sally for their own photos.

Now through April 19, Photos with the Easter Bunny, The Shops at Riverside, Hackensack. The Easter Bunny arrives at the Hackensack mall today and will be available for family photos until Easter. Reservations can be made online.

Now through April 27, Scrambled Egg Mix Up, American Dream, East Rutherford. Sign up to search for six decorated eggs that are hidden throughout Nickelodeon Universe. Prizes will be awarded for each egg found. Tickets are available online. Stick around the mall and sign up for photos with Easter Bunny.

April 5, 10 a.m., Garfield Easter Egg Hunt, 20th Century Field, Garfield. The city’s annual event includes egg hunts, bouncy houses, face painting, music and much more. There will be an egg hunt for children with special needs at 10:30 a.m.

April 12, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Stew Leonard’s, Paramus. Join the grocery store’s team and the Easter Bunny for a special breakfast buffet and fun photo-ops. Tickets must be purchased in advance online.

April 12, 3 to 5 p.m., Photos with the Easter Bunny, Rutherford Coffee Co., Rutherford. Take a few snaps with the Easter Bunny while enjoying a cuppa joe and donating to charity. All proceeds from this event benefit Relay for Life of Clifton and Rutherford, which raises money for the American Cancer Society.

April 12–13, Egg-Stravaganza, Bergen County Zoo, Paramus. Head to the zoo for a day of egg collecting, treats, giveaways and prizes. Tickets are sold for one-hour intervals and include zoo admission. Carousel and train ride tickets are extra.

April 16–17, Easter Bunny story time, Abma’s Farm, Wyckoff. Little ones ages 3 and older can enjoy an interactive story with singing, props and puppets. Stick around for photos with the Easter Bunny. Tickets are available online.

April 19, 10:30 a.m., West Side Presbyterian Church Egg Hunt, Ridgewood. Bring the kids (up to third grade) to the Ridgewood church’s parking lot for a free egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny.

April 19, 11 a.m., Easter in the Park, Van Neste Square, Ridgewood. Downtown Ridgewood’s popular event is back and includes an egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, live music, games, vendors and more.

April 19, Extraordinary Egg Hunt, Tenafly Nature Center, Tenafly. Eagle-eyed kids will hunt for camouflaged eggs throughout the forest. Multiple one-hour sessions are available. Registration can be completed online.
