12 Events For A Fun Weekend
Looking for spooky stories, seasonal sights and everything in between? It’s all happening this weekend in Bergen!

The weekend’s here, and there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy it. Whether you’re in the mood for Halloween excitement, local leaf peeping, seasonal festivals or just something new to try, the best events are happening here in Bergen County.
Not sure where to start? We’ve rounded up some upcoming activities, all of which are sure-fire ways you and your crew can have fun and make the most of every minute this weekend.
Oct. 24
- Start the spooky season off at the Paramus Library on East Century Road, where Haunted Halloween runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors of any age can arrive in costume for the all-day open house, which includes ghouls, ghosts and plenty of treats. Registration is not required.
- Enjoy tall tales and tractor rides at Abma’s Farm in Wyckoff, which is hosting a Spooky Storytime. The program is open to all ages and includes a nighttime hayride, ghost stories, a bonfire, glow sticks, donuts and more. Sessions start at 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.
- Stop by The Heritage in Ho-Ho-Kus for After Dark Tours of Legends & Lore. The candlelight journey, recommended for ages 12 and older, includes tales of unexplained happenings at the historic mansion. Showtimes are 6:30 and 7:45 p.m., and tickets are available online. Can’t make it on Friday? Additional sessions are offered on Sunday, Oct. 26.
- For an evening of entertainment, check out psychic medium Christopher Allan, who’ll take the Midland Park High School stage from 7 to 11 p.m. Admission includes the show, light refreshments and a chance for a personal reading. Proceeds benefit the Midland Park Class of 2027.
- The lights are bright in Bergen, but you can see the night stars and other celestial bodies during free public viewings at the Emil Buehler Observatory in Paramus. Head to the Bergen Community College campus from 7:30 to 10 p.m. and use the high-powered telescope to see Saturn, Neptune and other planets and stars.
Oct. 24–26
- This is your moment to see Jekyll & Hyde, the popular Broadway rock musical, which will be staged at the Old Library Theatre in Fair Lawn. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinee starts at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.
Oct. 25 & 26
- For a fun and not-so-frightening time, visit the Ethical Culture Society’s Not Too Spooky Haunted House in Teaneck. All ages can enjoy wacky witches, grumpy goblins, sweet treats and fun prizes at the indoor-outdoor event. The haunted house is open from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door.
Oct. 25
- Start Saturday off at Stew’s Spooktacular Costume Breakfast, happening at Stew Leonard’s in Paramus from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Arrive in your costume for a buffet-style breakfast from Stew’s culinary team. Tickets are available online.
- A haunted graveyard, a pumpkin patch, a costume and a pet parade—find all of that and more at Halloween Haunted Harvest, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Ridgewood’s Memorial Park at Van Neste Square. Admission is free.
- Celebrate your furry friend at 4Paws in the Park, the annual dog and cat charity festival and pet expo, from noon to 3 p.m. at Overpeck Park in Ridgefield Park. The program includes a pet costume walk, pet talent show, adoption event and more.
Oct. 26
- Lace up your sneakers and line up for the Bogota 5K Run & Walk. The race features a 5K run/walk, a track mile and a quarter-mile race for kids as well as awards and prizes for top finishers. In-person registration starts at 6:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8 a.m., the track mile at 9:30 a.m., and the kiddie race at 10 a.m. Register now online.
- The Hackensack Performing Arts Center has a treat for you. Swinging with the Rat Park with special guest Marilyn Monroe takes the stage at 3 p.m. for an afternoon of unforgettable music and entertainment. Tickets are available online.
