Spring is still a week away, but the recent warmer temperatures and sunny skies already have us excited for the new season. Our spirits will continue to rise this weekend, as Bergen County has a full slate of festive and fun events for all ages and interests.

Below are a dozen activities and programs happening throughout Bergen, including comedy shows, concerts and the county’s largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

March 14

  • Rock band Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will perform their latest and greatest (including their ’06 smash “Face Down”) at Teaneck’s Debonair Music Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. concert, which includes opening acts 408, Heartbeat and Sleep Cycles. Click the link for tickets.
  • Comedian, actor, writer and producer Craig Ferguson takes the stage for a one-night performance at bergenPAC in Englewood. The former host of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, he also is a New York Times bestselling author and had standup specials for Netflix, Comedy Central and Amazon. Showtime is 8 p.m., and tickets are available online.

March 14-15

  • Relive the classic tale of Mary Poppins, which will be staged by members of the Rutherford High School Theatre Department. Performances take place at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 1 and 7 p.m. on Saturday.

March 14-16

  • Want to listen to live music while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? The Shannon Rose in Ramsey has a slate of musicians all weekend long. On Friday, Kevin Hill plays at 4 p.m. and will be followed by Bergen Boys at 9 p.m. Saturday’s schedule features Grafton Street (noon), Dan Minogue Trio (5 p.m.) and The Exits (9 p.m.). On Sunday, Daddy O’Pocketful takes the stage at 11 a.m., followed by Secret Sound at 4 p.m.
  • The students at The Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest will stage their annual musical, Cinderella. Shows are 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Click here for tickets, then click here to see what other high schools are performing this season.

March 15

  • Looking for artisan crafts, jewelry, home décor and other handmade gifts? Bergen Town Center in Paramus is hosting an artisan market with more than 25 vendors from noon to 7 p.m. near the Center Court.
  • Have a child who’s interested in nature and animals? Head to the Tenafly Nature Center at 1 p.m. for “Who Goes Whoooo?” The program, intended for kids ages 5 and up, uncovers the mysteries of nocturnal raptors and includes hands-on activities. Visit the link to register.
  • Learn about “Ireland: Tea, Food and Folklore” at the Mahwah Library. The 2 p.m. discussion with tea expert and food historian Judith Krall-Russo will take visitors on a journey to the Emerald Isle, where tea, scones and tea cakes are enjoyed day and night. Registration is open to all residents, but Mahwah residents will have seating priority.
  • Enjoy an evening of classical music as the Pro Arte Chorale performs “Fanfare for Copland: A 125th Anniversary Concert.” The show, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Ridgewood’ West Side Presbyterian Church, celebrates American composer Aaron Copland’s 125th birthday.

March 15 and 16

  • Things My Mother Taught Me begins a four-weekend-long run at the Bergen County Players’s showhouse in Oradell. The show tells the story of a young couple that moves into their first apartment halfway across the country from their parents. Weekend performances are 8 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. March 16

  • Bring the whole family to American Dream to celebrate Big Bird’s Birthday Breakfast. Head to Marcus Live! at 10 a.m. to enjoy delicious food and to sing “Happy Birthday” to the beloved Sesame Street character. Tickets are available online.
  • The 43rd Annual Bergen County St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Bergenfield begins with the ceremonial flag raising at 1 p.m. at Roy W. Brown Middle School. The parade steps off at 2 p.m. and travels along South Washington Avenue before ending at St. John Church.
