Take a rustic ride through corn fields and pumpkin patches for an unforgettable afternoon.
Kids On A Hayride

Instagrammers have been posting pics from apple orchards and pumpkin patches for a few weeks already—it’s time you and your fam to get out to a farm too! In Bergen County, however, you can do more than just grab your gourds and go. Many nurseries and farms here host plenty of fall family fun, including games, petting zoos and—our favorite—hayrides!

The five destinations below host hayrides for you and your littles. Be sure to check with each farm for operating schedules and tickets, then bundle up, grab your pumpkin spice lattes and enjoy the ride!

Abma’s Farm, Wyckoff. Hayrides through the 32-acre site lead to the pumpkin patch, where riders can pick their favorite gourd. Tickets are $20 (age 2 years and under are free) and include a small pumpkin and admission to the petting zoo.

Demarest Farms, Hillsdale. Sign up for a hayride (Saturdays and Sundays only) to this farm’s pumpkin patch. The $7 admission (ages 2 and older) includes parking, hayrides and access to the petting zoo and playground. Reservations must be made online. For an evening treat (and thrill), take a hayride through Demarest Farms’ Haunted Orchards, where ghouls, ghosts and other creatures will give riders a fall fright. Online tickets for Haunted Orchards start at $25.

DePiero’s Farmstand, Montvale. Visitors of all ages who are up for a good scare will love “The Revenge of Cyrus Grain” haunted hayride. The nighttime attraction (wagons operate from 7:30 to 10 p.m.) takes guests through greenhouses, open fields and old abandoned sites along the way. Tickets start at $27 and should be purchased online.

Lupardi’s Nursery, Closter. Fall fun on Saturdays and Sundays at this neighborhood nursery includes a feeding zoo, tree house slide, corn maze and hayrides. The rides are $6 and take everyone one a trip around the property. For $5 extra, you can pick a sugar pumpkin to bring home!
*75 Blanch Ave., Closter, 201.768.0017

Secor Farms, Mahwah. Daytime hayrides will take you on a scenic tour of the festive farm, which is decorated with fun and familiar characters. Once you make it to the field, explore the corn maze, pick a pumpkin (for purchase) and relax under the rustic pergola. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at any register.
