5 Places To Get A Mammogram In Bergen County
Our local area hospitals offer breast screenings and MRIs for early detection. Here’s how to schedule your mammo during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Between fall activities, Halloween and the headlines from Israel, our minds surely have been racing with thoughts since October started. But let’s not forget another significant event that’s happening now—it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In fact, the third Friday in October—Oct. 20 this year—is also National Mammography Day, which encourages women to get their mammograms. Getting screened for potential breast abnormalities can help detect an issue long before symptoms may arise, and breast cancer can be treated if it’s found early. Experts recommend women of average risk start getting yearly mammograms at age 40, but discuss your options with your physician if you have risk factors or a family history.
If you’re due for your yearly exam (or have been putting off scheduling your first-ever mammogram), here’s how to get your mammogram at our five local area hospitals. Just keep in mind you will need to bring a written prescription from a doctor (like your primary care physician or OB/GYN) in order to get your mammo at one of the following screening centers, most of which are certified by the American College of Radiology. Plus, each of these five centers offers same-day results, so you’re not driving yourself crazy waiting to hear from your doctor for a week.
And P.S.: It’s recommended that you wear a loose-fitting two-piece outfit (pants and a top instead of a dress or romper) and forgo deodorant, lotions and powders on exam day.
