7 Chocolate Shops With Year-Round Treats

Halloween might be around the corner, but who says the candy haul is just for trick-or-treaters? With National Chocolate Day happening on Oct. 28, it’s the perfect excuse to indulge in something a little more grown-up—and a lot more delicious. (Though we’re not turning down a Snickers or Twix!)

We’ve rounded up some of the best chocolate shops in Bergen County where you can treat yourself to handcrafted truffles, rich sipping chocolate and plenty more—no costume required!

  • Conrad’s, Westwood. This longtime sweet shop nabbed first place for Best Candy/Chocolate in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Contest. They have delicious and cute seasonal treats (try the pumpkin-shaped chocolate pops), chocolate-covered pretzels, truffles and more.

  • Critchley’s, River Edge. This Readers’ Choice honoree has been dishing out chocolates and candies since 1957. The chocolate-covered strawberries are a hit any time of year!

  • Genevieve’s Home Made Chocolates. Last year’s Readers’ Choice runner-up is a family-owned business on its third generation. You’ll find a sweet for any occasion—including grabbing a quick treat for yourself.

  • Matisse Chocolatier, Englewood. Every day is a holiday at Matisse, which creates custom chocolate for nearly every occasion. So while you’re picking up Halloween hearts and cocoa bombs, you might be able to find some early holiday bark as well.
