7 Events That’ll Warm Your Winter
This weekend in Bergen is packed with laughs, music, movies and more!

The Super Bowl isn’t happening for another week, so what’s there to do until then? You live in Bergen County, so the answer is plenty! From movies to maple sugaring to meeting your favorite baseball players, the family fun activities this weekend run the gamut.
Below are seven events that are worth checking out!

• Stand-up comedian Gareth Reynolds performs three sets over two nights at Bananas Comedy Club in Rutherford. Reynolds currently appears on the hit podcast “The Dollop” and previously wrote for Comedy Central’s Idiotsitter and Netflix’s Flaked. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show on Friday and the 7 and 9 p.m. performances on Saturday can be purchased online.

More than 50 former players and personalities (Mariano Rivera, CC Sabathia and Don Mattingly, for instance) will be on hand to sign memorabilia. Admission is $20 and includes one free autograph. Additional autographs are extra.

• Bring your little one to the Glen Rock Library from 11 to 11:45 a.m. for Bracelets for a Cause. High school students will guide kids ages 7 to 12 (BCCLS cardholders only) as they make friendship bracelets for residents in senior living centers or hospitals. The program is free, but registration is required.
• Before you check out the movies nominated for this year’s Oscar Awards, you’ll want to see the award-winning documentaries being screened at the Thomas Edison Film Festival (TEFF). Starting at 2 p.m., the TEFF and Mahwah Library will present three prize winning films: Between Earth and Sky, Note of Defiance and 13 Drivers’ Licenses. TEFF is an international juried competition open to all genres and filmmakers across the globe. Admission is free, but registration is required.
Feb. 2
• For a sweet winter treat, bring the entire family to the Tenafly Nature Center and learn about Maple Sugaring. The program is held both indoors and out, giving participants the chance to identify a maple tree, tap it and boil down sap to make fresh, warm syrup. There are sessions at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Registration is required.
All weekend
• There’s nothing quite like ice skating during winter, and Bergenites have several options to enjoy this activity. The Rink at American Dream has several open ice sessions, as does the Ice House in Hackensack and Mackay Ice Rink in Englewood. See individual websites for times and tickets.
