Whether you use a smartphone or digital camera, shoot your shot at these picture-perfect locales.
4 Insta Worthy Spots

Some of us are meticulous when we compose photographs, while others shoot in bursts with hopes that one of the captures turns out well. Many are armed with just a smartphone; most pros carry at least two DSLRs into the field. The one thing all shutterbugs have in common, however, is finding the best locations to picture, especially during summer.

The good thing for Bergenites is that we don’t have to travel far to take great images (though we wouldn’t mind joining a National Geographic expedition)—there are many places in the county with wonderful vistas and Instagram worthy landscapes. On National Camera Day, June 29, bring your gear to one of the following Bergen locales for your next cover shot.

Davis Johnson Park & Gardens, Tenafly. This pocket park is a springtime gem, thanks to its bright blossoms. But it’s just as spectacular in summer, where there is a a rose garden, sunken garden and plenty of flowering trees.

DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst. Nature and serenity—and plenty of birds—are the main draws of this park. It features nearly 4 miles of flat trails—including boardwalk, pavement and gravel surfaces—that take visitors across Bergen’s beautiful swampland and up close and personal with birds of prey, waterfowl, skimmers and more.

Fort Lee Historic Park, Fort Lee (pictured). Located atop a cliff, the area includes a reconstructed Revolutionary War encampment and views of the Hudson River. You might see a few Instagrammers at the railing along the northeast corner of the park—the George Washington Bridge makes for a picture-perfect background.

Lorrimer Sanctuary, Franklin Lakes. One of the homes to the New Jersey Audubon Society, this park features a picturesque trail system that meanders through 14 acres of woodland. It’s home to a variety of bird and animal species that are protected—but can be captured on camera.

Greenbrook Sanctuary, Palisades Interstate Park. Shutterbugs will find an assortment of wildlife here, including deer, foxes and birds, but the 250-foot waterfall, 5-acre pond and cliffside view are less-elusive photo subjects.

Ramapo Valley County Reservation, Mahwah. “The Res” has several marked trails that cut through woods, navigate around waterfalls and go over streams. There are great vista points as well, including a popular spot just off of the main yellow and blue trails that gives trekkers a bird’s eye view of Bergen County and NYC in the distance.

Thielke Arboretum, Glen Rock. This 11-acre site is a natural habitat for various species of birds and animals that reside in its wetland forest. It also boasts gardens, nature trails, a pond and a brook.
