8 Bergen Events For The Family This Weekend

You don’t have to wait for summer to get out and enjoy the season of fun.

Believe it or not, Memorial Day is almost here. Almost. Though the unofficial start of summer is one weekend away, you don’t have to wait to start enjoying the brighter days and the warmer weather. That’s because there are already a bunch of things happening now!

In our county alone, you’ll find fun events and activities for all ages. Below is a list of things to do in Bergen County this weekend. Click on the individual links for additional details, and enjoy!

Families with young children can attend Tenafly Nature Center’s Nature Story Time at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. Attendees will learn about a specific animal from TNC’s Animal Ambassadors and how it came to the center. Animals may include snakes, frogs, turtles, owls or a hawk. Kids must be accompanied by an adult, who can attend for free.

Bergen County Horse Rescue in Mahwah is hosting Mom to the Rescue on Saturday, May 18, featuring crafts, face painting, games and raffles and a chance to meet the farm’s horses. The fun happens from noon to 3 p.m., and there is a $15 donation that includes one wooden horseshoe chime and one wooden horseshoe for decorating.

All Bergenites can celebrate Rochelle Park Day from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at Carlock Field. This free, family-friendly event features food, music, games, rides and more.

Enjoy live music, food trucks and lots of fun at River Edge Stigma Free’s annual Concert in the Park. The free event takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at Memorial Park and will feature local musical acts The Bogert Bros Band. Hand-designed T-shirts will be sold for $15 to support River Edge Stigma Free.

Celebrate Mother Nature at Bergen County’s EarthFest Overpeck from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at Overpeck Park in Ridgefield Park. The free event will include a fishing derby, children’s activities, live music, vendors, kayaking (at the paddling center), food trucks and more.

Get your motor runnin’, because there are three separate car shows happening on Sunday, May 19. Bergen Harley-Davidson will host the Nam Knights Car and Bike Show at 350 Michelle Pl. in Carlstadt. Gates open at 9 a.m. for entries, and the show starts at 11 a.m. In addition to the cars and bikes, there will be food, vendors, raffles and other activities. The annual Hackensack PBA Car Show is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hackensack Costco parking lot, and will also include food, beverages, trophies and more. This show is free to attend. The Englewood Car Show takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 8 Depot Square, and will feature stunning cars, food vendors, live music and more. General admission is $25.
