Receiving a basket filled with toys and treats is an Easter tradition for many kids and their parents, but the weeks leading up to the celebration can be just as fun. In Bergen County, the season is well underway, with a slate of holiday-themed events on tap for this weekend and Easter Sunday, April 9.

Below is a sampling of upcoming egg hunts, photo-ops and breakfasts with the Easter Bunny in the county:

  • March 25, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Ridgefield Park Elks, Ridgefield Park. Families can enjoy a full breakfast and an Easter egg hunt. Recommended donation is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations are required.
  • March 25, 10 a.m. to noon, Cookies with the Easter Bunny, Hasbrouck Heights Senior Center, Hasbrouck Heights. Take photos with the Easter Bunny and decorate your own box of six cookies. Family tickets are $25 and includes photos, cookies and decorating supplies.
  • March 28, 4 to 5:30 p.m., Easter Egg-Stravaganza, Stew Leonard’s, Paramus. Kids 8 years and younger will receive a bag to collect candy and other prizes throughout the store. Photos with the Easter Bunny will also be available. The event is free, but tickets are required.
  • April 1, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Easter Egg Hunt, Ramsey Library, Ramsey. There will be plenty of goodies for all kids, as egg hunts will be held throughout the day in five separate sessions. Registration is required.
  • April 1, noon to 4 p.m., Easter Egg-Stravaganza, American Legion, Rutherford. This free event will feature vendors, Easter Bunny photos, egg hunts (1 to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 3 p.m.) and more. Donations will be accepted.
  • April 8, 10 to 11:30 a.m., Easter Egg Hunt and Family Event, North Jersey Vineyard Church, South Hackensack. A festive egg hunt will be held for all kids through fifth grade. The event is free, but registration is required.
  • April 8, 11 a.m. to noon, Extraordinary Egg Hunt, Tenafly Nature Center, Tenafly. Eagle-eyed kids will hunt for camouflage-colored eggs throughout the forest. Tickets are $10 for nature center members, $20 for others.
  • April 8, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Easter in the Park, Memorial Park at Van Neste Square, Ridgewood. Attendees can enjoy the free celebration, which includes an egg hunt, photo ops, live music, vendors and giveaways.
  • April 23, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., St. John’s Easter Petting Zoo, St. John’s Church, Tenafly. Kids can enjoy an Easter egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, food and a petting zoo. Admission at the door is $10 and will benefit the St. John’s PTO.
