It’s always a good time to celebrate our planet, but some occasions call for extra-special attention. Earth Day, April 22, and Arbor Day, April 25, are two such opportunities. This is a great time to reflect on how we impact our environment, take steps toward living more sustainability and share educational resources with all.

If you’re looking for a chance to do that, and also for a way to get outside and enjoy the weather, check out these events:

April 20
• The Borough of Demarest holds its Arbor Day Festivities. Join members of the Shade Tree Commission, who will be giving away free tree seedlings to plant from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

• Get your hands dirty with the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization (MEVO), who host a Sunday Farm Volunteer Day. Spend a shift helping at one of two local farms. Registration is required, and shifts start at 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.

April 21
• Music professor and songwriter Dan Sheehan of Bergen Community College in Paramus will present his project The Seas Are Rising: Stories of a Climate in Crisis at BCC’s West Hall. This project is part concept album, part live music experience, and emphasizes the urgency of the climate crisis. The event is free and begins at 12:30 p.m.

April 22
• Enjoy good company and fresh air at the Tenafly Nature Center with a meeting of the Refresh and Revive Hike Club, which meets at 9:30 a.m. The hike will be guided by Dalia Sabari, a certified yoga therapist and Tenafly Nature Center trustee. Registration is required.

• Head over to the Teaneck Creek Conservancy for an Earth Day family walk. The program will include a guided walk through Teaneck Creek as it begins to bloom for spring. The walk will begin at 4 p.m., and registration is recommended.

April 26-27
• The annual Party for the Planet returns to the Bergen County Zoo in Paramus. Over two days, you can browse dozens of conservation education related tables, information from local environmental organization, enjoy themed activities and more. Saturday will feature local conservation groups, and Sunday will focus on the zoo’s efforts. The fun starts at 10 a.m. on both days, and the party is free with zoo admission.

April 27
• At Memorial Park at Van Neste Square in Ridgewood, bring the whole family to the annual Daffodil Festival and Earth Day event. Enjoy goat yoga, live music, educational displays, demonstrations, crafts, vendors specializing in sustainability and natural products and more. It all kicks off at 11 a.m. (and the always-popular Daffy Dog Parade, where leased and costumed pups are encouraged to show off, starts at 12:30 p.m.).

May 10
• Over at the Paramus Library, the Paramus Environmental Commission host is Earth Day Celebration with live music, educational resources and more. The fun starts at 1 p.m., and this event is free.

May 18
• The popular EarthFest, a collaboration between the Hackensack Riverkeeper and Bergen County Parks, returns for another year.
