When you venture out tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 11, remember to spend a few moments at a Veterans Day ceremony or reflect at a memorial as a “thank you” to all those who served or are currently serving in our armed forces. That’s one way we can repay the brave men and women.

Afterward, you can make your way to the malls and shopping centers, where there are plenty of Veterans Day sales, discounts and specials—many of which are lumped in with early Black Friday deals—that are too good to pass up. Here’s a list of shopping opportunities at chain stores in our area for everyone:

  • Anthropologie: A large assortment of clothing, accessories, home décor and gifts are deeply discounted for the holiday season.
  • Ashley: Shop for discounts up to 40 percent off on living room seating and 30 percent off on sleep mattresses.
  • Banana Republic: Holiday sales include 40 percent off assorted men’s, women’s and children’s fashions.
  • The Home Depot: Take advantage of holiday discounts and Black Friday savings while you shop for appliances, tools and Christmas décor.
  • Kohl’s: Veterans Day and early Black Friday deals are available in-store and online. Use coupon code SHOP20 to receive a 20 percent discount on your online order.
  • Macy’s: Thousands of items are on sale, including winter coats, luggage, housewares and more.
  • Ulta Beauty: Veterans Day and early Black Friday deals include 40 percent off select brushes and styling and hair care products.

Honoring our veterans, of course, doesn’t end after morning ceremonies. Bergen County is doing its part to thank its veterans and active members all day, offering them a free round of golf at any of the six county golf courses on Nov. 11. Reservations can be made online, and veterans can confirm their status with the cashier at check-in. But that’s not all we’re doing for our servicemen and women. Dozens of local and national restaurants are offering military discounts and promotions this weekend, including:

  • Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza: Dine-in guests can receive a free 12-inch cheese pizza by presenting their military ID.
  • Applebee’s: Military and National Guard members can get a complimentary full-size entrée from a special menu.
  • Bonefish Grill: Active-duty service members and veterans get a complimentary order of Bang Bang Shrimp with a soft drink with valid ID.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active-duty service members get a free order of 10 boneless wings and fries with valid ID.
  • California Pizza Kitchen: Veterans and active-duty military members get a complimentary meal.
  • Chili’s: Veterans and active-duty service members get a free meal from a select menu with valid ID. Available for dine-in only.
  • Dunkin’: Veterans and active-duty military get a free donut of their choice at participating locations. Available for dine-in only.
  • IHOP: Veterans can receive free red, white and blueberry pancakes or a pancake combo on Nov. 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dine-in only, at participating restaurants.
  • Outback Steakhouse: Active-duty military and veterans can receive a free Bloomin’ Onion and beverage with the purchase of an entrée. Available for dine-in customers only.
  • Playa Bowls: All veterans can receive a free bowl with a military ID. Available at participating locations only.
  • Starbucks: Participating stores are honoring those who have served with a free tall hot or cold brewed coffee.
  • Wendy’s: Active-duty military and veterans get a free breakfast combo at participating locations during breakfast hours.
