5 Ways To Spend Leap Day In Bergen

The day happens once every four years, so make the most of it and try something different on Feb. 29.
2 Leap Day

Does your schedule fill up so fast that you wish you had more time to get things done? Well, this year you do! Science says 2024 is a leap year, when every four years our calendar is extended to 366 days in order to synch up with the astronomical calendar. What that means for us is an extra day in February.

So, what do you have blocked out for Feb. 29, a special day that happens once every four years? You can go about your regular routine—but we think you should add something out of the ordinary to commemorate the occasion. Below are five ideas for how to spend a couple of hours on leap day:

  • Leap Day Delight: Create Your Own Parfait, 9 to 11 a.m., Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck. Join FDU’s honor students and build your own breakfast parfait. Muffins and juice will also be served at this free event.
  • Riverview Ballroom Grand Opening, 4 to 8 p.m., Riverview Ballroom, Cliffside Park. The Fort Lee Regional Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to celebrate the opening of this event space with food, drink, music and more.
  • Casino Night, 6 to 10 p.m., Bentley-Rolls Royce of Paramus. This fundraiser to benefit Rare Is Beautiful includes hors d’oeuvres, drinks, games and prizes, including a chance to win a trip to Greece. Admission is free; games and raffle tickets are extra.
  • ROG Sunrise Karaoke, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., 49 E. Midland Ave., Paramus. Step up to the mic and show off your vocal chops, or cheer on your friends and others as they sing their favorites on stage. Hosted by Realty One Sunrise Group, this event is free and open to everyone.
  • She Kills Monsters,” 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Ender Hall, Bergen Community College, Paramus. BCC’s Bergenstages performs this on-stage comedic romp into the fantasy world. Click the link for details and more information.
