River Vale’s smallest golf pro takes advantage of a sunny day for some backyard practice.
If Aanica Vonthron’s golf swing looks a little too good for child having fun in her backyard, there’s a good reason for that—Aanica is a pro. The River Vale resident recently qualified for the U.S. Kids World Championship in Pinehurst, N.C., this August, where she will be representing her hometown at just 8 years old. On a recent sunny day, Aanica’s father, Philip, recorded and posted this video of her taking some time to practice in the backyard. According to Philip, Aanica has been playing golf since she was 6, but really took strides last summer and fall when she began working with a swing coach. “She came in first place on April 7 in the North NJ Tour, which is held Delaware County, PA,” the proud dad says. “She’s really crushing it.”
