Adopt A New Furry Friend This Weekend
Meet puppies, kittens, bunnies and more at the Clear the Shelters event in Teterboro.

Summer is a busy time for everyone, and you’re likely finalizing end-of-the-season plans at the beach or in the backyard. It’s also a busy period at local animal shelters, which often become inundated with kittens, puppies, bunnies and more.
As a result, the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro is participating in Clear the Shelters, a nationwide adoption and donation initiative that aims to find homes for animals in need. Visitors who stop by the shelter from 1 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 25 can meet many of the animals in need of homes—dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and others—and begin the adoption process. Adoption fees will be waived during this time.
Stop by the shelter and say hello to Ive, an 8-month-old female German shepherd. This pooch has plenty of youthful energy and would fit well with owners who have an active lifestyle. Her vaccinations are up to date, and she’s spayed and house-trained. With a little more training, she’ll surely shine in your home—though the shelter believes Ive will be best in a one-pet household.
More of a cat person? Tia, a female domestic shorthair is up to date with all her vaccinations and will fit into any household when she gets used to the sights, sounds and smells of her new home. When that happens, she’ll purr and sit next to her family for attention and affection.
If you want your next furry friend to be a Chinchilla rabbit, Mr. Grey might be the perfect fit. This fella is about 3 years old, loves to play in his pen (and outside of it as well) and has plenty of personality. He’s been neutered and in perfect health.
Before you adopt, remember to discuss all the responsibilities with your family members. Do your homework to determine the best pet for your household and consider factors such as time needed for appropriate care, allergies and veterinary care. When all questions and concerns are addressed, then it’s time to meet your new friend!
