Free Family Fun In Bergen County
Entertainment and activities don’t have to cost a fortune. These offerings are available at a price that can’t be beat!

Most of us love a good sale or an item available at a discount. No one, however, can deny the excitement of finding something for free. In Bergen County, there are plenty of reasons to feel this type of elation—you just have to know where to look. That’s where we come in!
We’ve compiled some of our favorite items and opportunities that are available to Bergenites for no cost. Some of these deals are available for a limited time, while others require registration or other conditions, so make sure you thoroughly read the details.

Bowling for kids at Holiday Bowl in Oakland. From noon to 5 p.m. now through Sept. 28, kids ages 2 to 17 can enjoy a free 24-minute bowling session with free online registration. The offer must be used during posted Kids Bowl Free times.
Breakfast at IKEA. Visit the furniture store in Paramus and use your IKEA Family account to get a free breakfast from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. The meal includes up to four small breakfast entrées, while supplies last. The only caveat: You must wear pajamas to get the free food! Online registration is required.
Dance classes at Nunnbetter Dance Theatre in Bergenfield. Does your child love to dance or does he/she want to improve their skills? Visit this studio Thursday, Sept. 5 through Sunday, Sept. 8 to take a free dance class. Sessions are open to dancers of all skill levels who are age 6 and older.
In-store workshops for kids at The Home Depot. Bring your little ones to the hardware store from 9 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of every month for a fun DIY project. Families should register online and are encouraged to arrive early, as the free workshops are offered while supplies last. The Home Depot has locations in Hackensack, Lodi, Mahwah and Paramus.
Knitting and crocheting at Westwood Public Library. Whether you’re just starting out or have been enjoying the hobby for years, you can share your ongoing project with the Knitting & Crocheting Club. Meetings take place every Tuesday night and Friday morning, and attendees bring their own supplies, trade tips, share patterns and make new friends. It’s entirely free, but registration is required.
Summer Jam at Hackensack Performing Arts Center. Bring the whole family to HACPAC from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 for an end-of-season bash with live bands, food, games, face painting and a special sneak peek of Dramajam Theatrical Troupe’s upcoming Lion King.
Water fun at Bergen County splash parks. Don’t worry if your pool membership about to expire for the season, because the area’s splash parks are still open and are still free for visitors. There are several of these splash zones in the county, from Mahwah to Hackensack to Lyndhurst, that are suitable for all ages!
