Who Makes Bergen’s Best Slice?

Our 2025 Readers’ Choice winners have been unveiled, and your pick for the county’s best pizza has been revealed.
Best pizza in Bergen

We love a good culinary debate, and there’s perhaps no food that sparks more entertaining ones than pizza. The value of pineapple as a topping, New York vs. Chicago-style, whether or not you fold a slice when you pick it up—these are all conversations that are sure to rile up your friends and spark arguments at the dinner table. And now is a great time to bring it up, because today, Sept. 5, is National Cheese Pizza Day.

Here’s another one to get people arguing: Where can you pick up Bergen’s best slice? We are an area rich in fantastic Italian restaurants (and Italian heritage!), so the options may seem endless. Never fear! We put it to vote.

The winners of our 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards are here, and the people have spoken. Check out these spots for Bergen’s Best Pizza (and then browse our winners in the other categories!):

First place: Pizza Nova. A new winner has been crowned! The chefs at this Tenafly favorite have been perfecting their pies since 1979. Get a classic cheese pie or try one of their specialties like Tex Mex (topped with jalapeño and Spanish onions) or San Diago (sauteed spinach and feta). Want something sweet? This shop offers a s’mores pizza on a graham cracker crust. It also placed second in our Best Italian Restaurant category.
*24 Washington St., Tenafly, 201.894.9700

Second place: Kinchley’s Tavern. With the giant horse statue out front and the ultra-thin, crispy crust of its pies, it’s no exaggeration to call this spot iconic locally. In fact, it took the Best Pizza prize in both 2023 and 2024. And don’t skip out on the rest of the menu! Mouthwatering apps (we recommend the rice balls and the spinach artichoke dip), pasta favorites and “dessert ravioli” to finish off the meal—you can’t go wrong.
*586 Franklin Tpke., Ramsey, 201.934.7777

Third place: Sanducci’s Pizza Kitchen. All Italian eats are done to perfection at Sanducci’s (it actually took the crown in our Best Italian Restaurant category), so it’s no shock its pizza impresses. Try the square Grandma pie, with fresh mozzarella and basil. Something fancier? Let yourself be tempted by the bacon hot honey pie, reach for a classic meat lovers or opt for a seaside twist with a clam pie.
*620 Kinderkamack Rd., River Edge, 201.523.9300
