Forget subtle—this Halloween, Bergen County is going all out. From towering skeletons and synchronized light shows to full-blown haunted lawns, many homeowners are transforming their neighborhoods into frightfully festive destinations. Whether you’re trick-or-treating with the kids or just cruising for creative curb appeal, these decked-out displays are a must-see this spooky season.

Below are some of the spots worth checking out:

  • 11th Street, Fair Lawn. Around this time of year, locals know 19-21 11th St. as The Stranger Things house. The Carota family goes all out for their fall display, which combines elements from the hit Netflix series and traditional Halloween décor.
  • Berkley Place, Dumont. The homeowners here have plenty of Halloween spirit, and they’re charitable too. Visitors are asked to drop off food donations, which will be brought to the Dumont Food Pantry, at 130 Berkley.
  • Clinton Place, Hackensack. Halloween Highway. The neighbors on this quaint street earned themselves this nickname because, year after year, they put out amazing displays leading up to Oct. 31. Be on the lookout for spooky scenes with guillotines, caskets, tombstones and more eerie props.
  • Colonial Boulevard, Washington Township. Year after year, the residents here fill their front yards with spirited displays of animated characters, inflatables and more.
  • Main Avenue, Wood-Ridge. In a neighborhood filled with Halloween enthusiasts, the home at TKTKTK Main stands out. Here, you’ll find a front lawn covered with monsters, ghosts, skeletons and other characters that’ll surely scare!
  • Palmer Avenue, Maywood. Folks, Palmer Avenue Haunt is back and it’s spookier than ever. Check out 845 Palmer for the new scares—if you dare!
  • Sheridan Terrace, Ridgewood. Visitors can head straight to 124 Sheridan, home of the Stewart family and The Ridgewood Halloween Maze. These residents have been setting up an open-to-the-public, 1,000-square-foot maze in their backyard for more than two decades. Kids and adults alike go back year after year to see if they can make it through the maze, which takes the average guest about an hour to solve.
