Going For A Spin
A breakdancer in Teaneck busts a move and aims to inspire other dancers.
As they say, the way you get to Carnegie Hall is “practice, practice, practice”—and that’s also how you nail an audition. In a Teaneck studio, Eugene “Loose Lee” Choe, a Korean American breakdancer (or “b-boy”), recently spent some time doing just that. A video he posted to his Instagram shows him moving seamlessly between a backspin, a head spin and a headstand—and holding the pose like the professional he is. “I’m getting ready for an audition, and I have about a month of intensive training to accomplish my goals,” he says. Choe is a former dancer for the Brooklyn Nets Team Hype, has appeared in music videos and has won both national and international titles, in addition to working as an educator with universities such as with Cornell, Princeton and Purdue. According to him, one of his greatest ambitions is to “help new b-boys and b-girls grow into their full potential.”
