Local Fourth of July Festivities

Bergen County has always celebrated Independence Day with a bang, and this summer is no different! From parades to fireworks, Bergen’s patriotic towns offer plenty of fun for July 4.
The city of Hackensack will begin their July 4 celebrations at 11 a.m. at Foschini Park. Festivities include food, games, rides, a flea market, a live band performance by “The Infernos” at 7:15 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, visit hackensack.org.
Ridgewood is known for its festive 4ths. This year’s theme is "Celebrate the Constitution.” Festivities will start with a parade beginning from the corner of Monroe and Godwin at 10 a.m. and winding through town. Tickets are required for the fireworks display at Veteran’s Field, which beings at 9 p.m., but the price includes the evening’s entertainment performed by The Manhattan Dolls and The Patriot Brass Ensemble. You can buy your tickets in advance online or in stores (see ridgewoodjuly4th.org for participating stores) for $8 and save (the gate price is $15). Gates open at 6:30 p.m.
River Edge is planning a two-day event starting July 3 in Veteran’s Memorial Park at 6:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for guests and the band “Soul Finger” featuring River Edge resident Jeanie Marri will perform at 7:30 p.m. under the pavilion. On July 4 at 11 a.m. the town parade will begin, followed by the Family Fair in Memorial Park from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Rides, games, music, food and beverages will be available. The fun doesn’t stop there! The family-friendly franchise Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar will be celebrating the red, white and blue with free meals for kids on July 4! Families who dine at any participating Applebee’s location in northern or central New Jersey on Independence Day will receive up to two free Kids’ Meals with every adult entrée purchased.
