A Peek At Porchfest in Rutherford
A Rutherford councilwoman shares a glimpse at Porchfest 2023, a music festival where local artists play outside residents’ homes.
Who needs a venue to hold an epic music festival? Not the borough of Rutherford, which every year puts on Porchfest, a music festival where local artists perform on homeowners’ lawns and porches all over town. And we got a glimpse of the Nov. 5 festivities via the Instagram account of Christie Del Rey-Cone, Rutherford councilwoman and mom of two. “The @rutherfordartscommittee has given our community the greatest gift with this event,” Del Rey-Cone writes on Instagram. Her home was the third stop of performances, where The Mad Slap Tones, a Jersey-based R&B/rock band, took the stage, er, porch. “There were a number of locations for Porchfest so it was truly a community event,” she tells BERGEN. “Watching everyone joyfully dancing on the street was amazing.
