A Special Run in Hasbrouck Heights
Lincoln Elementary School students take to the streets for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey.

The Tokyo Games isn’t the only event featuring a dramatic flame procession. The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey passed through Bergen County last weekend, raising money and awareness for Special Olympics New Jersey. Participating police officers paraded the Special Olympics’ torch throughout the county and were cheered on by the community. Hasbrouck Heights resident Helen Ramos captured the video below of students from the borough’s Lincoln Elementary School joining the run. “It is so important for them to show their support [for the Special Olympians],” she says. “We need to teach our kids kindness and to support all those that are near and dear to us.” Truer words have never been spoken!
