Local School of Rock students play with Quiet Riot on Friday, Feb 2nd at BergenPAC

Budding Bergen musicians will get to show off their skills as part of a pretty impressive line-up on Friday, February 3. Students from Tenafly School of Rock (201.503.6926, tenafly.schoolofrock.com) will be opening for legendary metal band Quiet Riot at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood.
Some of the schools more advanced students—age 7 to 18—are getting a chance to play with the Billboard-chart toping band as part of the “Performances” program, one of four programs at the school available to aspiring rock stars.
The School of Rock was founded in Philadelphia in 1998 and has expanded to more than 70 locations in North America. These schools—like the Tenafly location that opened in May 2010—focus on teaching children how to rock on stage and in life.
Unlike most music schools that revolve around learning fundamentals and slowly building to a show-worthy performance, the School of Rock says its philosophy is play now, teach later. Students are instantly taught how to play hits from bands like the Ramones, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
