Established in 1990, Dr. Brian Trava, Dr. Sujean Oh, Dr. Alison Petix, Dr. Seung Shon, and Dr. James Yang have all received recognition as top doctors in the field of endodontics. The two-year specialty program trained the doctors to save natural teeth with root canals by diagnosing pain, while also addressing tooth trauma and the use of stem cell therapy to prevent children from having premature root canals.
NJ Root Canal utilizes 3D imaging, surgical microscopes, and research-based techniques to detect extra roots and infections not seen by traditional methods. With higher success for saving a tooth, patients may save an average of over $4,000 not needing to replace an extracted tooth. Born and raised locally, Dr. Trava graduated dental school from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in 1988. He completed his two-year, post-graduate work in Endodontics from UMDNJ in 1990. Starting his practice in Hawthorne in 1990, Dr. Trava later became an assistant clinical professor at UMDNJ, where he taught Postgraduate Endodontics from 1993 to 2000. Dr. Trava is a published author, who lectures nationally on diagnosing patients with 3-D imaging and laser technology.
Children are an important part of the practice. Dr. Trava says, “Trauma can have long-term complications from an esthetic and legal perspective if not handled properly the first time.”
