Celebrate Father’s Day in BC
Show your pop you care this Sunday, June 21 with five Bergen County-based gift and activity ideas for Dad.

Stores and restaurants are gradually opening back up, but let’s not forget, people—we are still in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Nonetheless, there are more options and things to do on Father’s Day, this Sunday, June 21, than there were on Mother’s Day 2020 because, for one, we’re allowed out of our houses this time!
If you’re looking for a special way to celebrate the dad(s) or grandfather(s) in your life, either at home or back out in civilization, check out our five Bergen County-centric ideas below.
Serve him an all-star brunch.
Dad might be the one to make the breakfast in your house sometimes, but give him the day off by cooking him delicious brunch that’s just to his liking. May we suggest a cheesy breakfast burger for the meat-eater or an easy frittata if he’s more carb-conscious? If you’d rather order in (or grab a table alfresco), local restaurants like The Cornerstone in Hillsdale and It’s Greek to Me in Westwood are offering Father’s Day specials. Plus, some chain eateries at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack—Bonefish Grill, Maggiano’s Little Italy, PF Chang’s and Ruth’s Chris Steak House—are each offering discounts for dads.
Book him some tee time.
On June 3, golf courses reopened in the Garden State. If dad hasn’t yet had his chance on the green, now’s the perfect time to get 18 holes in. Some of our favorite golf courses in Bergen County include Darlington in Mahwah, Overpeck in Teaneck and Valley Brook in River Vale. Just make sure pops knows that motorized golf carts are prohibited (for now), and face coverings are strongly encouraged.
Shop local for gifts.
Rather than buying his gift from Amazon or other big-box online retailers, support a local men’s shop instead—they reopened this week for in-person shopping just in time for Father’s Day, after all! Freshen up his casual summer wardrobe with some picks from Society Men in Westwood, or treat him to a new custom suit or sportcoat at Sal Lauretta for Men in Midland Park or Vero Uomo in Englewood.
Indulge him in a cold one (or two).
You could frequent a local liquor store and stock up on dad’s favorite bottles, or you could go the extra mile and get specialty beer delivered right to his door. During the pandemic, Bolero Snort Brewery and Tasting Room in Carlstadt has been doing home deliveries of the dozens of beers they have on tap. Meanwhile, Alementary Brewing in Hackensack reopened its outdoor biergarten as of June 15. More of a wine guy? Bring pops to the just-reopened outdoor courtyard at Tomasello Winery at Abma’s Farm in Wyckoff for some sweet sips.
Get outside.
Odds are your dad is going to want to spend much of his special day outside, because #summer. But if hiking, biking or simply walking through parks and trails isn’t your father’s favorite pastime, you can have fun in the sun right in your own backyard. If you have little ones, turn your backyard into a camping site—the friendly folks at Ramsey Outdoor can tell you just what you’ll need to make it perfect. Meanwhile, Iachetti’s Kitchen in Glen Rock will make your dad a “grill kit” (pictured) with the protein of his choice for the perfect BBQ. Or, stop by Backyard Living in Ridgewood and let dad pick out a comfy hammock for the yard so he can do what he does best—relax.
