Whether you’re looking for a background for some amazing Instagram shots, a way to spend a summer afternoon in the sunshine or a fun daytrip for the kids, these locales are sure to please:
In Bergen
Abma’s Farm, Wyckoff. Every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., this spot offers flower picking and arranging workshops that include seasonal blooms such as sunflowers.
Secor Farms, Mahwah. The nursery and garden center at this farm are sprawling, and you can pick up fresh-cut sunflowers or containers that will grow for the rest of the summer.
Stokes Farm, Old Tappan. U-Pick flowers are a popular attraction here. Fill your arms with all the stems you could want (and don’t forget to snap a few pictures along the way!).
On The Road
If you don’t mind a little longer in the car, here are some other Jersey options, most of them only about an hour’s drive away.
Alstede Farms, Chester. The Blooming Giants Sunflower Trail is now open every day, where you can walk among thousands of towering sunflowers in full, glorious bloom. U-Pick veggie fields are also open for the summer.
Happy Day Farm, Manalapan. Take advantage of the last summer weekend this Monmouth farm is open (last day is Aug. 16)! Pick sunflowers in addition to zinnias and dahlias, and don’t forget to stop by the farm store for fresh berries.
Ort Farms, Long Valley. The U-Cut flower fields are open and waiting for you for the rest of the season. Stop by on Aug. 29 and 30 for the special Sunflower Festival for even more flowers, foods trucks, special ice cream and kids’ activities.
Stony Hill Farm, Chester. The Sunflower Festival, filled with special bites and props for photoshoots, will be going strong this weekend, and will continue on weekends throughout the month. On weekdays, you can still pick your own sunflowers and browse the farm’s market.
Von Thun Farms, Washington. The New Jersey Sunflower Trail is open every day and at this Warren County farm. Wander the rows of flowers, take as many pictures as you want and then stop by the farm market. On weekends, you can also enjoy hayrides, food trucks, activities for kids and more.
