Cool as Ice
A Rutherford family gets front-row seats to the hottest hockey rink in town.
Ryan Knapp didn’t have to plow over a cornfield to build a field of dreams—to create his backyard sports center, he simply needed a snow blower, a large tarp, a few gallons of water and a couple of hours of sub-freezing temps. Knapp, who got an assist from his buddy Patrick Dapuzzo, built the hockey rink for his son, Brayden, in their Rutherford yard so he could get a little extra ice time. “It was a 7-year-old boy’s dream come true,” Knapp says. “He loves hockey, and finding ice time is hard so I decided to make his own rink for him to practice. He looks forward to skating after school on his very own rink!” We hope there’s room in the garage for a Zamboni! For more of what’s going on around Bergen County, follow us on Instagram @bergenmagnj.
