Italy close to home
If you can’t make it to Old World Italy to shop, the next best thing is a visit to Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace, which celebrated its grand opening in Ramsey last month. The specialty grocer guarantees the freshest and highest-quality foods—from its full-service butcher shop and deli to the Italian bakery and produce department, there’s plenty from which to choose. If you’re looking for sweets, pastas and prepared foods, Uncle Giuseppe has them too. “I came for dinner ingredients and ended up sitting down to have lunch here,” says Peter DeCicco, 40, of Mahwah. Popular pizzeria expands
Sal Reina and Adam Vuksanic are at it again. The owners of Glen Rock hot spot Francesca Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta have expanded to Elmwood Park, offering their artisan pies and Italian specialties to foodies there. “Elmwood Park is lucky to have them in the neighborhood,” notes Shane Embery, 51, of Ridgewood. In addition to their pizzas, the menu has hot and cold heroes, paninis, entrées and more.

Mooning over Mexican
Already well-known for its made-from-scratch menu items and generous portions, Blue Moon Mexican Cafe is upping the ante with a revamped menu. Flavorful new items include the shrimp-filled Tacos Veranos, Fish Tacos featuring Modelo-battered cod fillets, Cauliflower Tacos with sautéed veggies and the fully loaded Burger Loco.
Sample the new selections for yourself at Blue Moon’s four Bergen County locations, which include restaurants in Englewood, Norwood, Woodcliff Lake and Wyckoff. You can complement your meal with a specialty drink featuring a barrelaged Patrón añejo tequila made just for Blue Moon.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the seasonal additions of dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds in the Tacos Veranos,” says BERGEN Managing Editor Nicole Lupo. “Each taco was topped with avocado slices, which sealed the deal for me.”
