Spring has officially arrived in Bergen County, and the first weekend of April is packed with ways to get out and enjoy it. From festive Easter celebrations and family-friendly activities to live entertainment and outdoor adventures, there’s something happening for every interest and every age group.

Whether you’re planning a relaxed day with the kids, looking to explore something new or just want an excuse to make the most of the season, this weekend’s lineup has you covered. Here’s your go-to guide for what’s happening around town:

April 3

  • For a night of friendly competition, check out Pickleball & Pizza at Montclair Pickleball in Fair Lawn. From 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., players (advanced beginners and high intermediates) can enjoy rotating open play as well as pizza, drinks, music and good company. Sign up online.

April 3–4

  • Relive a classic story when Bergenstages and the Bergen Institute for the Creative Arts performs “Hair” at Bergen Community College’s Ciccone Theater. The show follows a group of hippies during the 1960s as they fight the establishment, dodges the draft and lives in New York City. The Friday performance starts at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday shows are at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
  • Actor and comedian Jonathan Kite will make audiences laugh during three shows over two nights at Bananas Comedy Club in Rutherford. Known for his role on the former CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, Kite will perform his unique brand of comedy and impersonations at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 7 and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. April 4

  • Start your day by strengthening body and mind at Yoga for the Soul. Visitors can join for free at 9 a.m. on the fifth level of the Bergen Town Center parking garage. Instructor Kirsten Lane will lead the session, which will be moved indoors in the event of cold or inclement weather. Participants should bring their own yoga mat.
  • Sit for Brunch with the Easter Bunny from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Shannon Rose in Ramsey. The family-friendly event includes brunch options for kids and adults as well as music, face painting, an egg hunt, crafts and photo ops with the Easter Bunny. Reservations are available online.
  • All are invited to Ridgewood’s annual Easter in the Park, taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square. There will be an egg hunt at 11:15 a.m. for ages 2 to 4, and at 1:15 p.m. for ages 5 to 7. There also will be photos with the Easter Bunny, live music, giveaways and more.
  • Do you enjoy bunnies and horses? Visit the Bergen County Horse Rescue in Mahwah for Trot Into Spring, happening from noon to 3 p.m. The 10th annual event features face painting, treat-filled eggs, games and raffles, and photos with the Easter Bunny and the center’s horses. Proceeds from the event benefit the horse rescue, and tickets can be purchased online.
  • The Teaneck Creek Conservancy is hosting its April Family Walk/Caminata Familiar de Abril—the group’s first Spanish language guided tour. Stop by the conservancy, 20 Puffin Way in Teaneck, at 2 p.m. for a walk through Teaneck Creek, led by Chloe Levy and Donna Drake.

April 5

  • Celebrate Mother Nature during the Bergen County Audubon Society’s Easter Sunday guided walk through the Teaneck Creek Conservancy. Birders of all levels can join the tour and look for birds, insects and other wildlife. The free event begins at 10 a.m. and takes place rain or shine.
  • Take a break from shopping and soak up the sounds at Joy Spring: Jazz Afternoon with A Bu & Chenxi Pan. The piano showcase takes place from 2 to 4 p.m. at American Dream’s The Avenue in East Rutherford. The musical duo will present a selection of jazz classics and original works.
