2 Fall Fundraisers

Once the calendar flips to fall, we know the year is starting its slow winddown, and that means that giving back is on our minds. Soon, the season of giving will truly begin, but local organizations and charities are already organizing and presenting signature fundraisers to keep their missions going. And you can show your support by taking part in them—and having a great time while you do it.

Want to support cancer research, quality medical care, environmental education and beyond? Stop by one of these upcoming charity events:

Sept. 19. At the Parkside Community Church in Westwood, you can listen to Christopher Doran Sing Josh Groban, with special guest Nancy Feldman. This event benefits nonprofit The Healing Grove Counseling Center, which offers mental health services for struggling adults. The music starts at 8 p.m.

Sept. 20. Starting at 10 a.m. at the Closter Plaza in Closter, you can see great rides for a great cause at the Joey’s Fund 12th Annual Charity Car Show. Money raised here helps ease the costs living, medication and travel for families caring for a child with a life-threatening illness.

Sept. 20. Stop by the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County’s Social Action Fair, where you can hear great music, connect with like-minded organizations and explore volunteering. This event begins at 11 a.m.

Sept. 26. The Tenafly Nature Center hosts its Campfire & Cocktails fundraiser, where you can sip handcrafted cocktails, savor seasonal small bites and enjoy live music surrounded by crisp autumn air. The event benefits the nature center’s environmental work. The fun starts at 6 p.m.

Sept. 26-27. Support the Friends of the Bergenfield Library at the annual fall Community Garage Sale, which begins at 9 a.m. on both days. Shop antiques, apparel, books and more and help provide the funding for community-wide library programs.

Sept. 28. Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Foundation holds a Charity Golf Outing at Hackensack Golf Club in Emerson. You’ll find something for everyone here—a full round of golf, pro lessons, pickleball workshops, massage therapy, mixology demonstrations and great bites and sips. Check-in starts at 7 a.m., and the shotgun start is at 7:45.

Oct. 4. At Bergen Community College in Paramus, take part in the 7th Annual Walk for Women’s Cancers, to benefit the Lewin Fund. The run begins at 9 a.m.
