The Don Bosco Ironmen will host the Bergen Catholic Crusaders in Friday night’s Non-Public A state semi-final matchup. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Sports fans are truly spoiled this time of year. The football season is well underway (the Jets and Giants are right in our backyard at MetLife Stadium), basketball is in full swing and hockey has hit the ice. Meanwhile, the NCAA fall college championships are all ramping up as well.

But maybe you want to cheer on a home team a little closer to home. Great news: Our county can accommodate that too. Here, see some upcoming games that promise thrills, action and rising athletic stars:

High school football

After a season of drama and high emotions, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) football state semi-finals are here—and more than one Bergen team has made it. See who makes it to the championships (Group 4’s Ramapo High School have also made the semi-finals, but its game will be held at Phillipsburg High School in Warren County):

  • Group 2. The Westwood High School Cardinals take on the Malcolm X Shabazz High School at Westwood High School, 7 p.m.

  • Group 3. The Old Tappan Golden Knights take on the West Morris High School Wolf Pack at Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan, 6 p.m.

  • Non-Public A. Don Bosco Prep faces off against fellow local school Bergen Catholic at Don Bosco Prep, 7 p.m.

  • Non-Public B. Paramus Catholic takes on Red Bank Catholic at Paramus Catholic High School, 7 p.m.

Want to see the state championships? Those games will be held on Nov. 28 at MetLife Stadium, though we won’t know who’s facing off until the semi-finals are decided.
