NORTHERN NEW JERSEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation recently unveiled its Build-A-Village, an art-centric collage display created by senior citizens in Bergen County. The public art appears in show boxes on a building’s exterior located at the intersection of North Van Brunt Street and Daisy Place in Englewood.

VALLEY HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

The Valley Hospital Auxiliary recently presented the final payment of the auxiliary’s $1.5 million pledge. The group is now beginning a $3 million pledge to establish the pediatric section of the Emergency Department in The “New” Valley Hospital and $100,000 for Valley Home Care’s endowment for Butterflies, a pediatric palliative and hospice care program for seriously ill children.

RIDGEWOOD JAMBOREE

The annual Ridgewood parents’ music and talent show raised more than $165,000 during its three-night run. Money raised from the event goes toward college scholarships to be awarded to Ridgewood High School students.

NORTHERN NEW JERSEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Center, a division of the Heart and Vascular Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center, recently presented the “Cardiac Rehab Persons of the Year” awards to Moonachie’s Christine Gravina and Fair Lawn resident John Mamo, both of whom initiated the most significant changes to their risk factors for heart disease, including reducing body weight, managing hypertension and lipids, managing diabetes through diet and exercise, managing stress and staying optimistic.

COMMUNITY FOODBANK OF NEW JERSEY 

Community FoodBank of New Jersey recently received a $2,194 donation from The Shannon Rose Irish Pub. The restaurant, with locations in Ramsey and Clifton, raised the money during its annual Dine to Donate drive.

ACADEMY OF HOLY ANGELS

Students at the Academy of Holy Angels in Demarest recently participated in a talent show to benefit CO/LAB, a nonprofit theater group that provides free opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. The acts included musical and vocal performances as well as comedy, dance and rhythmic gymnastics routines.
