Halloween is creeping up, and if you’re looking for a fall adventure that’s a little more exciting than pumpkin picking, it’s time to get lost! Corn mazes are a classic autumn tradition, whether you’re navigating winding paths with the kids, challenging your friends to see who can find the exit first or braving a spooky nighttime puzzle.

From family-friendly fun to fright-filled adventures, there are plenty of ways to get turned around this fall. Grab your crew and check out these mazes in and around Bergen before Halloween rolls around:

  • Abma’s Farm. Though the Wyckoff location offers Halloween programs as well as hayrides and pumpkin picking, the nearby Hillsborough offers an unforgettable corn maze. Check out the flashlight maze scheduled for Oct. 23.

  • Ridgewood Halloween Maze. Though this attraction isn’t a corn maze, it’s a festive puzzle that has been entertaining families and friends for more than two decades. The Stewart family has been setting up their free backyard maze for all visitors to try. *124 Sheridan Ter., Ridgewood
  • Secor Farms. This neighborhood farm has a corn maze designed for young explorers. Take a scenic hayride to the pumpkin patch, where a pair of small mazes are set up for little ones.

Beyond Bergen 

  • Alstede Farms. Each year, this popular farm sets up a themed maze, which is free to traverse with a pick-your-own (apples, pumpkins, flowers and a variety of vegetables) admission.

  • Fairfield Farms. A child-friendly corn maze awaits visitors, who also can enjoy other fall activities like hayrides, a goat petting zoo, pumpkin slingshot and more!

  • Stony Hill Farms. This location offers two mazes—a mini course for young explorers and the 10-acre Giant Corn Maze for adventurers.

  • Ort Farms. After pumpkin picking, take the family to the corn maze, go for a hayride, interact with farm animals and more. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

  • Wightman Farms. Tickets to the weekend Fall Festival will give guests access to Mazeland, which features a giant corn maze, a hay bale maze, a rope maze and other labyrinths and activities.
